About Alexandra: Bio
Alexandra Maillis-Lynch has been cooking her way into hearts and lives ever since her family's loving response to her 'doctored' Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. As a five year-old, the warm appreciation was kindling to an instinctive culinary talent and a natural inclination to spread joyful pleasure through food and hospitality. Her enthusiasm for all matters entertaining continues today with a flourishing catering and event management company, simply called ALEXANDRA.
Alexandra credits a lot of her success to her Greek heritage, her childhood family travels, and to a lack of ethnic fare in Nassau in the early 1990's. Her lack of formal culinary training also plays a part in her success, allowing her creative freedom from standard guidelines and methods.
Unafraid and adventurous in spirit and deed, Alexandra has experimented with flavors and dishes from every part of the world knowing instinctively when it was 'right', and reveling in the praise that always followed. The desire to make people happy through food was fostered by her well-nurtured upbringing. Love, affection and happiness are inexplicably intertwined with the warm, comforting, anticipatory smells of her mother's cooking and the completeness of family meals. It led to Alexandra's yearning to fill people with the very best of home cooking and now her heart and soul are the main ingredients in everything she prepares.
Her childhood memories are brimming with the aromas of worldly delicacies from her many travels. She can recall vividly for example, the smell of freshly prepared French snails in aromatic garlic butter and fresh herbs on a trip to Luxembourg. Today she recreates those early experiences in a wide variety of ethnic menus and flavorful dishes.
During the eighteen years she has been in business, Alexandra has lost none of the early passion, indeed, her passion has only grown with experience. In response to client demand, she has added creative party planning and event management and staffing to her menu creations and culinary skills. It was, of course, a natural progression for someone whose satisfaction and happiness hinges on the savory success of every event.
